Kitty had joined a bunch of the kids at the park. They'd gathered around with a frisbee, but she wasn't interested in that too much. She'd stretched out on the grass and tried to soak up a little sun. She heard Jubilee call out to her, and when she looked up, she saw the frisbee sail over her head...and hit someone else. Kitty cringed. She got up and jogged over to the guy.
"Hi," she said with an embarrassed smile. "Sorry about that. My friends don't, like, always know their own strength, you know?" She laughed nervously. This guy seemed to be twice her size. "Are you okay?"
The Frisbee wasn't as painful as it was unexpected, and Piotr was certain it wasn't meant for his head, so he was able to stay calm when someone came to claim it. A girl was jogged up to him, apologized, and asked if he was okay. Piotr spent a moment studying her before replying. She was short, and rather pretty, but most importantly, she seemed genuinely concerned, and that was what drew him to her more than anything.
"I am all right," he said, wishing his Russian accent wasn't so strong. For those who weren't used to it, he could be hard to understand sometimes. Even those who were used to it could have trouble.
He picked up the Frisbee and held it out to her. "This is yours?"
"Whoa, accent. Cool!" Kitty blushed instantly. She hadn't meant to say that out loud. She took the frisbee from him. "Uh, yeah, it, like, belongs to my friends. We didn't, like, bother you or anything, did we?"
He smiled at her mention of his accent. If she wanted to think it was "cool," that was all right with him.
"It was not a bother, only surprise," he said. He glanced over her shoulder at her friends. There were about five or six of them, and for the most part, they looked like they were enjoying themselves. He supposed it was easy for the normal people to feel like they belonged.
Piotr looked at the ground. "I think your friends are waiting for you."
"What?" Kitty looked over her shoulder and saw Jubilee and the others waiting for her to bring the frisbee back. "Oh, right. They probably, like, want this back." She threw it back to them. It didn't go very far. Sam had to go retrieve it. She blushed again. "I'm, like, not that athletically coordinated," she said with a laugh. "Which is why I wasn't, like, involved in the game or anything, you know? I, like, was more observing and enjoying being outside." She was rambling and she knew it. She sighed softly to herself. "I'm Kitty, by the way."
Remy hadn't thought it possible, but he had actually lost Piotr once they had entered the park. He had easily gotten sidetracked and when he had glanced back, Piotr was gone. So, what did he do? Go hunting insanely for Piotr. After all, he was supposed to be helping Piotr today (Magneto's orders), and the park wasn't exactly the most secluded of places...
After a bit, he finally caught sight of Piotr. Sighing, and running a hand through his hair, the mutant known as Gambit jogged up to Piotr, seeming to ignore the girl he was talking to.
"Piotr! I've been lookin' all over for ya. Y'didn't forget we're supposed t' be..."
It was then and only then that he noticed the girl. Sufficiently embarrassed that he had done so, he rubbed the back of his neck, looking a bit sheepish. "Ah... sorry, cherie... didn' see y'standin' there... M'not interruptin' somet'in', am I?"
OOC: Didn't even notice this post. @_@ Gaaaaah~ Forgive meeeeeeeeeeee~
.....and for some reason it posted up there rather than down here like I wanted.... *kicks LJ* Stupid thing
"Oh, no," Kitty said. "I, like, was just retrieving my friends frisbee that hit Piotr in the head." She looked at the friend. He seemed familiar somehow, though she couldn't place him. "I'm Kitty."
"Remy," Gambit said, smiling winningly at her in a vain attempt to make up for not having noticed her before. "Pleasure t' meet ya, cherie."
Remy. That was the name of the guy Rogue met in the club. Kitty tried to remember what he'd looked like. She hadn't gotten a very good look at the time, so she couldn't remember. She did remember what Rogue had said about his eyes. She wanted to look, but somehow it seemed a little rude. Could it be the same person? She didn't want to come right out and ask. So she did the next best thing she could think of.
"Wow, that's, like, a total coincidence," Kitty said. "My roommate - well, she's also, like, my best friend - just met a guy not too long ago at a club named Remy."
"Mon ami..." Gambit said after a moment. "Can I talk to you for a sec? Privately?"
OOC: Posting it over here so we don't get into more page-alignment issues
Piotr looked at the others, Kitty a little longer than the rest, then gave Gambit his attention. "Yes?"
OOC: Ha, I was just about to suggest that. Thanks :o)
Remy steered Piotr off to the side, and fixed him with a calm look. "Look, mon ami, I'd love to stay an' socialize as much as y' would. 'cept th' boss isn't going to like it if we stay here too long."
'Cept th' boss isn't going to like it if we stay here too long. As much as he hated to admit it, Piotr knew Remy was right. They weren't here to meet people; in fact, one of the things Magneto had warned them against was that they socialize with no one, especially Xavier's students. Piotr didn't know who they were, but they were mutants, and he would certainly know a mutant if he saw one... right?
He sighed and nodded. "You are right, as usual. Should we... just go, then?"
Piotr glanced at Remy, then back at Kitty again. "No, it is all fine, everything is fine, as fine as fine can be," he said innocently. "I do not know what I would do if things were more fine."
Way t' be inconspicuous, mon ami...
Nodding in agreement, Remy added, "Yes, everyt'in's just fine, 'cept we gotta be goin'. We've got some t'ings t' get done before we see th' boss again..."
Saying it like that was all right. After all "boss" in this case could be anyone. Didn't have to mean Magneto...right?
Kitty was dying to know what he meant, but she didn't want to pry. This wasn't like Rogue or Jean or anyone, where she could ask as many questions as she wanted. She was enjoing talking to them, and was a little sad that they had to be going so soon.
"Okay," Kitty said slowly. She looked at Rogue, then Piotr. Then she got an idea. "So did Rogue, like, give you our number when you guys met that night?"
Piotr, the innocent farm boy from Russia, wasn't entirely sure with American customs, but... didn't this at least imply that she was interested in seeing them again?
He turned his head toward Remy. Only he could answer that question.
OOC: I don't know why, but I just really want to get this post to at least 50 comments, lol.
Once they were out of earshot, Kitty grabbed Rogue's arm. "Rogue! He's cute!" she said, about Remy. She glanced back over her shoulder. "And so is his friend." Kitty giggled. "So do you, like, think they'll actually call us?"
(OOC: AAAHHH! Sorry I've been so quiet! I didn't mean to, I've just been doing other things and forgot to check back here. Rrrrr!)
"I--I don't know," Rogue said, rather dumbfounded. She felt akward with having such a girly crush on someone, especially in her circumstances. "I hope so...do you think maybe Porfessor X would allow visitors?"
OOC: Lol, you're good, don't worry about it. :)
"I think so," Kitty said. "I mean, we'd have to, like, clear it with him first, you know? To make sure that, like, Kurt doesn't 'port into a room or Mr. Logan doesn't walk around with those claws out or anything. And if not, then we can, like, just meet them somewhere."
Gambit smiled, playfully saluting to the girls in a gesture of good bye and steering Piotr off. Once they were out of earshot, Remy lightly punched Piotr's arm. "Looks like y' got yourself a girlfriend, Piotr~" Remy's tone was teasing, of course. "Good for you! Maybe you'll stop mopin' around the base now..."
Gambit's playful little salute made Rogue grin. He was so charming...she gave a slight wave 'goodbye' back, and watched them leave.
Something about the two guys was as charming as it was strange. All she and Kitty could do was look forward to running into them again.
Piotr smiled sheepishly, knowing Remy had won this round. He glanced over his shoulder at the girls, then said, "I could probably think of a reason to come back."
And judging by the way Remy looked at Rogue, so could he.
"Yeah, 'cept we'd hafta be careful," Remy said with a smile. "You know how th' boss feels about us socializin' with other people." He shrugged. "'sides, for all we know, dey could be Xavier's students, and th' boss wouldn' like it if he found out..."
Xavier's students... He knew the odds were against that, but still, it was possible. And Kitty did say they went to a boarding school... by that, did she mean a boarding school for mutants? Perhaps they should cross-reference the phone number and decide if it was worth the risk.
He mentioned this idea to Remy. "What do you think?"
