Rogue was getting really, really tense. She had just been in the library downloading music ("good guys" side or not...what teenager *didn't*?) when Bobby and a few of the other guys from the Institute came in.
Long story short: Bobby had asked to see Rogue's new laptop, which quickly turned into a "harmless" game of keepaway, and now Rogue's computer screen was frozen--literally.
"Oh no you didn't!" said Rogue, staring wide-eyed at her screen. "Oh...you are SO through!"
Just at that moment, Xavier walked in.
Ray was sitting back in a nearby armchair watching everything around him with a wolvish grin.
Thoughts of visiting his parents could wait. This was a golden opportunity to have some fun, something Ray hadn't been having for quite a while. Not since before he lost his job, at least.
He stood up, stretching his arms out first, and ran to a corner of the room and motion to Bobby with a wide smile. "Hey Bobby! Throw it here!"
Xavier came in just as an object that looked a lot like an ice cube in the shape of a laptop computer sailed through the air into Ray's outstretched arms. Meanwhile, Rogue was charging Bobby while pulling off a glove. The professor sighed. There was no need to ask what was going on - it was obvious.
Bobby chucked the iced-over laptop into Ray's arms, and ducked as Rogue came flying over towards him with a bare hand.
He didn't have to have psychic powers to know that he was gonna eventually get pummeled, but just couldn't seem to resist.
Kurt entered the library with a bamf. He was ready to party at Water World.
"Hey everybody. I had an idea. Since school starts in a couple of weeks and we haven't really done anything fun this summer..lets go to Water World."
Ray caught the iced laptop, almost snickering. He was going to continue the game of keep away, throwing it back to Bobby of course, when Kurt popped in the room in front of him.
He gave an exasperated sigh and let his raised arms down. It's not that he didn't like the blue elf, he just wished that Kurt would want to play too. Judging by the look on his face, that wasn't likely.
After listening to what Kurt had to say, Ray's smile reappeared on his face, now more subtle. "Yeah, sure. I'll go." He said throwing the laptop back to Bobby to deal with. He knew if he held onto it any longer, he'd either be Rogue'd, or he'd get in trouble. He had just realized that the Professor was sitting in the far end of the room.
"This is... interesting," the professor said, guiding his wheelchair into the library. "Rogue, don't touch him. I'm sure we can settle this in a civil manner."
Rogue took her hand away from Bobby's face, and reluctantly put the glove back on.
The thin layer of ice on the screen had already began to melt, and now water was in the keyboard. She tried to shake it out, and realized that she would just have to wait for it to dry.
"Ugh...you are so gonna pay for this one, Ice-dork."
Jean was currently mind-scanning the Institute, trying to find Professor X to tell him that the new student was here. She finally found him in the library with a few of the other students. She spoke to him telepathically, hoping not to startle him.
*Professor... I don't mean to interrupt you at all - but a new student, Jubilation Lee, is here to see you. She's currently waiting in the main foyer with Danielle and I.*
Xavier was about to ask how this whole mess had started when he heard Jean's voice inside his head, announcing the arrival of a new student: Jubilation Lee, the girl he had located in Beverly Hills just over a week ago.
Thank you, Jean. I'll be right there.
"Whoa, did someone say Water World?" Bobby lit up with a devious smile, and he had hardly noticed Rogue's bare hand inches from his face.
*goes to greet Jubilee*
Ray followed Kurt. He decided he's better stay close to the fuzzy blue boy because Water World was his idea, and Ray didn't want to risk the chance of being left behind.
